Study model for a new residential architecture project overlooking the Mediterranean
From 7 to 28 February, one of our pieces will be on view in Madrid, within a selection of objects and furniture made by construction workers that explore the relationship between building culture, craft and design
Antoni Gaudí’s project has always existed somewhere between devotion and excess, logic and spectacle, perhaps a kind of architectural guilty pleasure, impossible to ignore and impossible not to admire.
Our project Casa Plató has been featured in ICON Design.
The article, explores the transformation of this historic house in the Gràcia neighborhood of Barcelona.
The project carefully restores and updates the dwelling while preserving the unique spatial qualities that made it a remarkable setting for film productions. The intervention balances conservation and adaptation, allowing the house to continue its life both as a home and as a place for cinematic narratives.
Casa Plató reflects a sensitive approach to working with existing architecture, maintaining its atmosphere while opening new possibilities for living.
Our proposal Assembly City, developed for the Europan 18 architecture competition in Amersfoort, was highlighted by the jury for its modular, prefabricated and demountable system exploring adaptability, reuse and flexible urban living.
Our Relámpago Lamp was part of the exhibition “Inspired in Barcelona: Luce”, held at the DHUB.
The exhibition showcased a selection of lighting pieces by designers and architects connected to Barcelona, exploring the relationship between design, light and urban culture.
Next to it, the model for our proposal for Europan 18 in Amersfoort…!
An early spatial exploration to test the structural system, relationships between volumes, and the modular logic of the project. In the studio workshop, through material tests and small adjustments, the project gradually takes shape.
This year, Joan Gener is teaching design studio at La Salle Architecture.
Midterm reviews are up with a great mix of ideas, drawings and models taking shape.
Construction keeps moving, the building has now reached the 5th floor.
Exciting to see the project rising week by week.
Always great to return to a project and see it living on its own terms.
Light, materials and espace work exactly as we imagined.

Excited for what’s coming next!
Together with Maira Arquitectes we have won the public competition by Barcelona City Council for the redevelopment of the inner courtyards of Guineueta, in Nou Barris.
This neighbourhood was built during a housing emergency, when there was no time or care for public space. The streets were just dust — and mud when it rained.
Thanks to the neighbours’ fight and persistence, some improvements were made over the years. But always in a fragmented way, with very basic solutions.
Today, Guineueta is facing new challenges: a growing and diverse population, many buildings still without lifts, serious humidity problems, and a lack of quality, accessible public spaces.
That’s why this competition was launched — to rethink these inner courtyards not just as infrastructure, but as spaces for community life and climate action.
That means:
— creating accessible routes and entrances for everyone,
— planting more trees and bringing shade,
— collecting rainwater and improving the soil,
— and designing public areas that bring people together — with playgrounds, meeting places, care, diversity, and a strong sense of belonging at their core.
This is just the beginning — more soon!
We’re excited to announce that h3o architects will be part of Concéntrico Festival 2025 in Logroño!

On March 10th, the exhibition ‘Nameless Models’ will conclude its display at La Casa de la Arquitectura in Madrid. This exhibition was featured as part of the 1st Biennial of Young Architecture of Catalonia, held under the theme ‘Post Like’ in Barcelona in October 2023. It showcased a collection of models created by architecture studios in Barcelona founded within the last decade, without revealing the authorship of each work. These models were exhibited in the viewing room of the College of Architects of Barcelona, sparking a fascinating discourse regarding their origins. This discourse culminated in an event where all participating studios came together to share new languages and perspectives on contemporary architectural representation, amidst the digital age of imagery.
Following its exhibition in Barcelona, ‘Nameless Models’ traveled to Madrid and has been on display at La Casa de la Arquitectura from December 2023 to March 2024, extending this contemporary and generational debate to a national level.
h3o proudly contributed our model ‘La Casa del Árbol’ to this exhibition.

Imagine the world has become a huge building that no one can escape. Your only way of expression is restricted to one window. Your identity is limited to an opening in the facade. So if this is the only thing that defines you: What would your window be like?
We want to defend the window as an expression tool. This architectural element has been adapted to each period throughout history. In recent times, architects around the world have understood the window in a personal and expressive way turning it into their own identity hallmark.
The goal of the initiative #ConnectingWindows is to create an “endless elevation”. Build an encyclopedia of the current global architecture. Share a platform that represents the collaborative spirit of our profession
h3o we have submited the window of “Black kitchen” in Barcelona

We live in spaces conceived for the human scale. But what about so many other realities that belong to the world and on which we are all dependent for a mutual understanding?
These days we live in seclusion to observe from the window how everything else grows again. Plants look wilder, birds sing in unusual frequencies, nature “gets out of control” all around in our cities. Roles are now reversed because us, responsible for a global pain that comes from far, are confined.
And now we realize our spaces are tight. The contact with the green -the “other” world- is minimum due to the loss of the habitat biological scale. What if we see the primitive cabin as the fusion with nature and not so much as a refuge from it?
For a healthier condition of living we should imagine places searching for a real equilibrium. Architecture should not become an insurmountable barrier for so many other realities that belong to our lives but a support for the multi-species in an inter-generational-cultural scale.
Enough of architectural seclusion and let’s think more about fusion!
Last week we were in Rotterdam with Europan 15 team! We discussed our proposal HYBRID PARLIAMENT in a fruitful workshop with stakeholders, elaborating on next steps in the development of Kop-Dakpark Rotterdam. Looking forward to next steps!

We are cheking samples for the new kitchen we are doing in Berlin!
Very happy to work together with Trujillo Moya, our local partner in Berlin!
The horchatería Sirvent at Parlament Street in Barcelona has no competence. Everyone knows that they have the best horchata. It is indisputable. Some people mix inside the pale drink a scoop of chocolate ice cream. This is the so-called Cubanito. Brown & white. The perfect fusion that first blends and then melts.
Considering the spatial relation between the horchatería and the project (both in Parlament street), this short video seeks to compare through a split screen images of the production process of the well-known Cubanito with images of the apartment.
Those white floors, that Stracciatella texture of the kitchen, those brown shelves. The interior of the apartment experiments with textures and colours to achieve a combination that reminds us of this Spanish sweet and invokes a collective imaginary of pale drink made out of roots, glazed cakes and toasted feelings.
This short video is an abstract proposal.
Our proposal with Sara Vima for Europan 14 in Alcoy has been published in Europan España Blog, together with our proposal for an Ephemeral Theatre in Madrid. Both projects got Honourable Mentions!

In the second session we gave each group a different concept to transmute their castle through the game and the story. It was time to explore how was the interior space and to represent it through words and models.
From and igloo village to a Cosmo City / from an octopus to a bridge that could save a princess made out of lego / Lady Gaga in a nature-artificial conflict on a sofa that she doesn’t like / The Sphere palace darkened / From the village of positive and negative pyramids to the transformable Koolhaas’ box / The heavy castle became a discoteque experience / The caslte based on number three helped us to became aware of the destruction of the world by humanity
Tomorrow, Friday, May 17, we will have the opportunity to meet and listen to the h3o team, friends and fantastic architects of Barcelona. His lecture will try to illustrate his latest works and perspectives in the field of architecture. During these two weeks they have been conducting a workshop that, under the name of Castillos de Arena, has explored the infantile, playful and emergent dimension of a context such as that of the Torrevieja beach.
What is Torrevieja but the perfect image of Sun and Beach tourism! Every year thousands of Europeans come to get the annual dose of vitamin D wishing to roll out their towels on the extensive beaches. As it’s almost summer (in Torrevieja it’s always summer) so let’s go to the beach, too!
All of you have spent entire days playing on the beach while your parents sunbathed. Shovels, strips, buckets and plastic molds where the tools to build your first spontaneous constructions. They were part of the game.
The fine sand of Torrevieje is perfect to bring this architectural game back to you. Relive your memories and feel free to build again with enthusiasm!
We have been invited by Alcoi City Council to present our awarded honourable-mention proposal for Al-Azarq Square.
Thanks for this opportunity!

becoming shows Spanish architecture through the works of a superb set of home-grown architects, where women are currently more in number than men. They demand rethinking the conditions of learning environments, abandoning predefined order schemes. The exhibition focuses on the actions, discourses and productions of the students, showing the complexity of our operational logics and trying to transform them into systems as simple as the choreographies of everyday life to make them accessible to all citizens. becoming is an experience which opens the door to an unknown atmosphere where the students build up the conflicts, the needs and other ways of living the world.
