Nomad Assembly is a changing and mobile landscape of artifacts that stimulate human interaction among the diverse classes gathered under the great cover of the Encants. With the aim of activating new possibilities for democratic and alternative horizontal debates outside the market, clustered furniture in bright pink, reminiscent of the triangular shapes of the roof, complements three wiry, slender, and atmospheric structures. The set of five elements opens, closes, and moves, reminiscent of the artifacts of the Garden of Earthly Delights, enchanting the entire environment.
Nomad Assembly speaks of identity and cultural diversity through the materiality of the objects that form the installation. The superficial pink flatness of the forms is disrupted by the appearance of scars that open and close, aiding the support and balance of the shapes, allowing the large volumes to be functional and playful. Thus, pieces of furniture sold at the Encants intersect on smooth surfaces to give a mixed identity to the intervention. Thanks to this patchwork of elements, the abstract volumes become the representation of different ways of living, accumulating memory, and expressing the mixture of classes that coexist under the cover of the Encants market. From a mahogany lion’s leg to a pine tabletop leg, from a Persian rug to an industrial carpet, from silk to canvas, from a promotional door to a Louis XIV-style cabinet door, all these elements induce INTERCLASS debate.
Nomad Assembly is composed of five large objects. The triangle that acts as a podium for lectures or dancing transforms into a fractal of tables that allow the exchange of objects and the meeting of people. This surface interacts with a second piece of furniture of similar proportions: a mountainous topography made with market carpets on which to rest and contemplate the reflections in the mirror. The immense wave is fragmented into four parts that reveal blue and glitter inside, housing the Model library. The two pieces of furniture interact with the three atmospheric towers, whose legs resemble Dalí’s surrealistic giraffes. As if it were a dreamlike landscape, each one comes to life through human will. With force on the pedal, the disco ball spins, the laser bounces off the mirror, multiplying the light, smoke machines fill the market with a pink cloud; the megaphone and bell sound, played by anyone who dares to venture.
Nomad Assembly is a pavilion-landscape, an assembly scenography capable of transforming both the interior and exterior of the Encants market, thanks to the mobility of all its pieces. From the inaugural event to Sant Jordi’s day, the square becomes a space for play and celebration. Likewise, when the market is in operation, it becomes its shade, the ideal stage for Llibres Model.
