Does it rain enough?
We cannot decide whether it rains or not, but we can decide how architecture receives, collects and returns water to the cycles of life.
Does it rain enough? stems from the finalist proposal It doesn’t rain enough, presented by Cierto Estudio, h3o architects and METRONOM arquitectura for the Catalan Pavilion at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale. As part of Barcelona’s designation as World Capital of Architecture 2026, the project moves to the Barcelona Pavilion to question the origin of the water that sustains it.
Taking the evaporation of the Barcelona Pavilion’s pool as its starting point, Does it rain enough? makes visible the water that disappears over the fourteen days of the installation and must be replenished to maintain its stable appearance. Twelve elevated tanks, a temporary gutter and a continuous drip transform this invisible loss into a physical and shared presence.
Located at the foot of Montjuïc, the Pavilion reconnects with a mountain traversed by water, springs and memories. A temporary intervention that imagines an architecture capable of collecting, retaining, sharing and returning water. An architecture that learns to care for the place it inhabits.
Does it rain enough? has been made possible with the collaboration of Gracias Grecia. The exhibition features research by Pol Guasch, Marina Garcés, Pol Esteve, Miriam García, Marcos Navarrete, Arnau Pascual and Marina Povedano. The programme includes interventions by Aurora Bauzà & Pere Jou with Jou Serra, Tiberi Club and Clara Aguilar.
